Reflection

A space dedicated toraising awareness of food waste in contemporary society, anawareness and dissemination initiative promoted by the Orsero Group, under the patronage of the City of Milan.

The event, organized by the WOA Creative Company, took place in front of Milan's Castello Sforzesco, in Piazza del Cannone, inside Sempione Park, from May 26 to 29, 2022. The set-up was created by Innscena, in collaboration with Cristina Mazzucchelli, who was in charge of creating the green scenery.

The goal was to bring to life a picture in which a retro-futuristic structure, with reflective walls, lands on the Earth's surface, where it is welcomed and enveloped by primeval vegetation. A capsule with irregular geometries, covered with mirrored panels, suggestive of a reality coming from a distant planet albeit identical to Earth, but where waste and inequality do not exist.

On the outer walls read phrases such as An alternative/exists, A new world/is possible, Don't waste/time. Inside the space, an immersive, multisensory experience that guides toward the final message: Reflection: it's time for your reaction.

In the installation, Cristina has selected plants with wild features capable of creating the suggestion of a remote place, where nature is dominant and where a vital vegetation tries to colonize every space. The sensation of a return to the origins is multiplied by the reflection of small shrubs, tall creepers and fluffy grasses, leaning against the surface of the alien parallelepiped, mingling with the image of the silhouettes of the surrounding historic trees.

Above, the boundaries of the sky dilute and break up on the mirrored walls, where complicit white clouds run incessantly, capturing the eye and thrilling. An irresistible call to curiosity for anyone who happens to pass by. An invitation to reflect on an increasingly important topic, especially in light of the current situation in which the number of people in food insufficiency continues to grow.
